Diamond Upgrade & Trade-In Policy

Your love story grows, and your jewelry can grow with it. Our Diamond Upgrade Program lets you trade in a diamond purchased from Balacia toward a larger or finer diamond, so the piece you treasure today becomes the foundation for your next milestone.

1. Natural Diamonds

Natural diamonds purchased from Balacia receive 100% of the original price paid for the diamond as credit toward a new natural diamond. Your new diamond must be at least twice the original diamond's purchase price. For example, a natural diamond purchased for $4,000 can be traded in for $4,000 in credit toward a new natural diamond priced at $8,000 or more.

2. Lab-Grown Diamonds

Lab-grown diamonds traded in within one year of the original delivery date receive 100% of the original price paid for the diamond as credit. After one year, lab-grown diamonds receive 50% of the original price paid as credit. In either case, your new diamond must be at least twice the original diamond's purchase price. Lab-grown credit may be applied toward a new lab-grown or natural diamond.

3. Eligibility

To qualify, your diamond must have been purchased directly from Balacia, be a center or solitaire diamond with an independent grading report (such as IGI or GIA), and be returned with its original grading report. The diamond must be in its original condition, free of chips, cracks, fractures or alterations, and its laser inscription must match its report. Every trade-in is inspected and verified by our team before credit is issued, and Balacia may decline a diamond that does not meet these standards.

The program is available to the original purchaser, and each diamond may be traded in once. Your new diamond becomes eligible for a future upgrade under the terms in effect at the time of that purchase.

4. What Credit Covers

Credit is based only on the price you actually paid for the diamond itself, after any discounts. It does not include the setting, side stones, accent diamonds, labor, engraving, resizing, sales tax, shipping or financing charges. If your diamond was purchased as part of a complete ring without a separate diamond price, we will determine the diamond's portion using your original invoice- not appraisal.

Credit must be used in a single purchase and has no cash value. It cannot be refunded, transferred or combined with other promotions, discounts or sale pricing.

5. Your Setting

You are welcome to keep your original setting. We can reset your new diamond into it if the setting fits the new stone, or design a new setting for you. Settings are not eligible for trade-in credit. Resetting, setting modifications and new settings are priced separately.

6. Pieces Not Eligible

The following are not eligible for the Diamond Upgrade Program: diamonds without an independent grading report; side stones, accent diamonds and melee; custom-cut and cut-to-order diamonds, including Dutch marquise and moval shapes, unless approved in writing at the time of purchase; diamonds set in bezel or tension settings that require cutting the metal to remove; colored gemstones, moissanite and other diamond alternatives; diamonds damaged, recut or altered after purchase; diamonds purchased from another jeweler; and international orders.

7. Gold and Other Jewelry

Gold, platinum and other metal jewelry that does not qualify for the Diamond Upgrade Program may be traded in for store credit based on the current value of the precious metal, as determined by Balacia at the time of trade-in. Contact us for a quote.

8. How to Upgrade

Email info@balacia.com with your order number and the diamond you would like to upgrade. We will confirm your eligibility and estimated credit, help you choose your new diamond, and send instructions for returning your diamond securely. Final credit is confirmed once we receive and inspect your diamond. Your new diamond is ordered once your trade-in is approved and any remaining balance is paid. Local clients may also bring their diamond to our Dallas office by appointment.

9. Changes to This Policy

Balacia may update this policy at any time. Upgrades are governed by the version in effect on the date your trade-in is approved. This policy is part of our Terms of Sale.
